<h1>Sharing data between WhatsApp and Facebook</h1>
I remember when Facebook bought WhatsApp. I used to use WhatsApp as well. And I changed that
immediately when Facebook bought it. They said they will never share data between the two or merge
into one Messenger or whatever it was exactly. Suuuure! ... <br>
At least they don't merge it, but the data is then shared among themselves, which is pretty much the
same thing, and therefore not so obvious to everyone. <br>
And who cares?! If you use both, you probably don't care anyway. But
if you want to change that! Some examples are listed below the quote block.
<blockquote cite="https://thehackernews.com/2021/01/whatsapp-will-delete-your-account-if.html">
The Facebook-owned messaging service is alerting users in India of an update to its terms of service
and privacy policy that's expected to go into effect next month.<br>
The "key updates" concern how it processes user data, "how businesses can use Facebook hosted
services to store and manage their WhatsApp chats," and "how we partner with Facebook to offer
integrations across the Facebook Company Products."<br>
The mandatory changes allow WhatsApp to share more user data with other Facebook companies,
including account registration information, phone numbers, transaction data, service-related
information, interactions on the platform, mobile device information, IP address, and other data
collected based on users' consent.<br>
Unsurprisingly, this data sharing policy with Facebook and its other services doesn't apply to EU
states that are part of the European Economic Area (EEA), which are governed by the GDPR data
protection regulations.<br>
The updates to WhatsApp terms and privacy policy come on the heels of Facebook's "privacy-focused
vision" to integrate WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger together and provide a more coherent
experience to users across its services.

Just recently we talked about <a href="https://delta.chat/en/">Delta Chat</a> in another group -
MailCow Telegram. <br>
I tried this years ago and on and off and I really liked it, but like most "other" messengers, not
many use it. But this particular one uses only your email provider and all messages are immediately
encrypted with Autocrypt. Give it a try. It's really great!
Some others:
<li>Of course <a href="https://element.pwoss.org">our Matrix Server</a></li>
<li><a href="https://www.hello-matrix.net/public_servers.php">Other Matrix Server</a></li>
There is also Briar, Telegram, Signal, Wire, and others. Just search for alternatives if you are not
happy with that list.<br>
I personally use only Matrix and Telegram. And from time to time Delta Chat &#128521; <br>
Good luck finding what suits you best!<br>
BTW Happy New Year &#128521;
